Paolo Gaiotti
Born 7/12/1943 in Pavia where he lives, is an
electronic engineer, for
25 years software manager in IBM Italy. When he was 15 years old, he began his musical
activity as lead guitar player and leader of rock bands. Later he was deeply interested in
traditional jaz, first playing banjo and then playing cornet and washboard, founding some
New Orleans and Dixieland bands. Since 1975 he has been founder, leader,
cornet player, singer and arranger of the "Riverboat Stompers Jazz Band" a
famous band still in activity, who achieved important artistic goals in Italy and abroad
partecipating in the world's most famous traditional jazz festivals: "New Orleans
Jazz and Heritage Festival" and " Sacramento Dixieland Jubilee". In 1977,
with Jack Russo and Claudio Perelli he founded the "Milano Hot Jazz Orchestra"
sharing the stilistic direction of the band, playing cornet, washboard and performing as
vocalist in many tunes of its repertory
